| | Re: help to transfer my email to vista! I am also having problems. In Outlook Express I managed 3 separate Identities, and each had aseparate address book and separate folders. I would have to switch identities from one to the other to check email, respond, manage contacts, etc. Is this still possible in the new Windows Mail? I moved my accounts and address book, but all of the former identities now show under one screen? If anyone can help or explain what can be done I would greatly appreciate it. | | Re: help to transfer my email to vista! As you have discovered, WM does not support Identities and dumps all email into one Inbox. If you want to add the Identities feature, this program is available... http://www.oehelp.com/WMIDs/Default.aspx "Marv T" <Marv T@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5DE210C6-1B0A-4BD9-8DC1-F96B576C501C@xxxxxx Quote: > I am also having problems. | | Re: help to transfer my email to vista! Windows Mail does not support the Identities feature. In addition to the non-free solution http://www.oehelp.com/WMIDs you can simply upgrade your Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail (WLM). WLM automatically creates separate folders for each mail account. http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas Gary VanderMolen "Marv T" <Marv T@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5DE210C6-1B0A-4BD9-8DC1-F96B576C501C@xxxxxx Quote: > I am also having problems. | | Re: help to transfer my email to vista! I ran into this too. Apparently, you now have to set up actual accounts on your computer for each identity. In other words, if you had three members of the family sharing the same account on the computer, you could just switch from one identity to the other. Now, each family member needs to set up their own account on the computer as they log on. This was really required before, but it is now. It's not too hard to do, and once you set up one identity, the others are just the same. Now we have all our "identities" re-established, but I had to set up an account for each identity. This also allows each person (or identity) to have their setup for Explorer, etc. Now if I can just figure out how to copy my old e-mails over to the new system.
