Hi Karen,

Double check your email account settings with Gmail's setup webpage. Windows Mail uses the same settings as Outlook Express.

Gmail: Help Center - Outlook Express

When done with that, make sure that you enabled POP for you Gmail account.

Gmail: Help Center - How do I enable POP?

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: setting up gmail address as default Windows account

Gmail doesn't have instructions for Windows Mail, but the
ones for Outlook Express will work:

Also, make sure you have enabled the POP option in Gmail:

Re: setting up gmail address as default Windows account

Ok, am getting v fustrated! i can view sent/recieved gmails but won't allow
me to send using Windows Mail. Keep getting McAfee error message:
"One or more emails cannot be sent

After you verify the format ofyour recipient addresses, McAfee recommends
that you resen those messages from your email program"
Huh??
and then the log reads
Command sent: MAIL FROM: (my email address)
Command recieved: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first
c14sm6440314nfi
I HATE THIS THING!!
