| | Backing up from Windows Mail to Outlook Express 6 What is the process to move back from Windows Mail (that comes with Vista) to Outlook Express 6 (on an XP)? I know where the locations of the files are in the respective systems: Windows Mail on Vista: C:\users\{user name}\Application Data\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail Outlook Express 6 on XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities When I copy the Windows Mail files into a temp folder, I can't import those files into Outllook Express 6. Outlook Express import functions does not let me 'see' Windows Mail file formats. Thanks Pierre Kacha -- Pierre Kacha |

| | RE: Backing up from Windows Mail to Outlook Express 6 Paul once I have exported in Microsoft Exchange, where would I find the resulting file(s)? I need to move it to another computer and then import it into Outlook Express 6... | | RE: Backing up from Windows Mail to Outlook Express 6 I had found that before. But i have so many folders in which I organize my mail, in addition to the inbox, that I need to do this one folder at a time, I presume. Let me make sure I understand: - grab the emails in the inbox and drag them into a folder on a desktop. this creates .eml files - next step not clear: 'open folder in OE'. Can you pls clarify? - repeat this for each mail folder I have created... -- Pierre Kacha "PaulB" wrote: Quote: > I found an eaiser way. | | RE: Backing up from Windows Mail to Outlook Express 6 Pierre, I must appologize. I have been unable to successfully get anything to work properly except to drag messages one by one to OE. I really don't understand. Hopefully some else will come along a set us both straight. -- Paul "Pierre Kacha" wrote: Quote: > Paul > once I have exported in Microsoft Exchange, where would I find the resulting > file(s)? | | RE: Backing up from Windows Mail to Outlook Express 6 Not to worry Paul. Thanks for your help. I must say that Microsoft Tech Support misled me when they told me that OE and Windows Mail were backward compatible... they clearly arent.
