works fine and then stops

Emails works fine and then I go to check messages and when clicking on snd
and receive, the computer checks mail and if there's a message it tells me
it's receiving, but then I get a message saying POP3 server has not
responded. I then get this message......
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
If I restart the computer I can get messages!!!!! Really cheesed off with
turning computer off 20 times a day....please help me!!!!!

Re: works fine and then stops

Are you running an AntiVirus system that scans email?

Re: works fine and then stops

Make sure you are not using incompatible third party security
software. Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
or Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Re: works fine and then stops

Disable all email scanning and see if the problem persists. You do not need
email scanning to begin with, the resident part of your Anti Virus package
will catch anything bad because anything you do with an email, open it, save
it, print it, whatever, will cause the message and/or its attachments to be
written to a temporary folder where and malware it might contain will be
detected and NAILED. In contrast, EVERY email scanner must inject itself
between the client and the email server and it WILL break something at some
point; its not a question of whether or not, but when and there will be a
when, given enough time.
