Sporadic send problem

Can't seem to figure why the "Mail" application sometimes just won't send and times out. Maybe a new issue with Vista....only wish I had gone with XP on my new computer

RE: Sporadic send problem

Since setup of Windows Vista, I have not been able to send any emails from
Window Mail, can receive and delete. This has been over a month. I have
tried every thing that has offered. KB941090 a update has been tried, but get
(this update does not apply to your system. Using this program has been a
total loss. I to, wish I had ordered XP.

Re: Sporadic send problem

If you get an error message, post it here.

This problem is often caused by an incompatible antivirus.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
or Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Re: Sporadic send problem

You need to provide some details regarding the send failure.
Do you get an error message? If so, copy it, then paste it into
a reply here.

When you attempt to send a message, does it stay in the Outbox?

Yes, "The connection to the server has failed: Subject 'hello' , account:
'mail, pelicancoast; Server: 'mail plicancoast.net', Protocol SMTP, Port25,
Secure (SSL):No, Socket Error 10060, error nnmber Ox800CCCOE. McAfee and
Windows
Anti-Virus was installed by Dell.

Re: Sporadic send problem

Unfortunately you paraphrased the error message instead of copying it,
so now I can't tell if the typos exist in the actual account settings or are
the result of transcribing errors.
Example: Server: 'mail plicancoast.net'

The most likely culprit is McAfee, which will need to be uninstalled
as I indicated in my previous reply.

There is no "Windows Anti-Virus" unless you mean Windows Live
OneCare. Never have more than one antivirus program installed.

Re: Sporadic send problem

Should the server name have a space in it? Periods as the only punctuation
inside is more common.
