| | Media Center TV Playback I tried Vista Home Premium on my home entertainment pc. I noticed a lag when watching television in Media Center. I used the default mpeg plug in that came with Vista Premium and the default TV card drives. Would it be better to use a 3rd party mpeg decoder? Like PowerDVD for example? My machine is a Dell E510 3gh P4 with 2 gig of 677mhz ram. A EVGA 7900 GS PCI express card and a Hauppauge analog TV tuner. This worked fine with XP MCE. Thanks for any info, Greg |

| | Re: Media Center TV Playback Have you checked at the Dell Web site to be sure that you have latest Vista drivers for your laptops tuner and graphics "card"? Do you get delays in both audio and video or only in video? If both make sure you have the latest vista drivers for your sound "card also. I don't think the decoder is at all related to your problem since you are not using a HDTV tuner. | | Re: Media Center TV Playback Its a desktop. I'm using the latest video drivers from the NVIDIA website. The video is the only one that is choppy. Since the memory is managed differently and its pounding the hard drive for the first little bit till it has been defragged, do you think that may be part of the cause? | | Re: Media Center TV Playback If you record a program and then play it back in MC do you still have the problem? If you play back the recorded program in Media Player instead of MC do you have the problem? Do you have any problem playing DVD's in MC? How much memory is on on your PCI-express card? do you have Aero enabled on your Vista system? "Greg" <greg@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OR%23zdIOFIHA.4028@xxxxxx Quote: > Its a desktop. | | Re: Media Center TV Playback I can't answer those questions. I need to run some tests before I can answer them. But those are good questions and will help me narrow down the problem.
