| | Windows Media Player Quit Windows Media Player suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. I see that other people have had exactly the same problem but I have not seen any solutions published. I have Windows Home Vista premium. The message I get is that the file wmploc.dll has a version 11.0.6000.6336 where 11.0.6000.6324 was expected. what does this mean and what is the solution. If it is a problem with Vista then surely Microsoft should fix it. Any advice PLEASE. |

| XP, Linux x64, Vista x64 | Re: Windows Media Player Quit why windows media player won't accept dll's that are newer than the versions that were installed is anybodies guess. apparently there is a scan tool that will check dll's and fix them (?) for example: sfc /scanfile=c:\windows\system32\wmploc.dll |

| | RE: Windows Media Player Quit Glenn: There is a cumulative update for Windows Media Player 11 in Vista. You might try that, even though it will get you yet another version of wmploc.dll. I would certainly back up the original version(s) of that DLL before doing this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941651/en-us Hope it's worth trying... | | Re: Windows Media Player Quit If you reboot and aren't fixed up, open up "cmd.exe" using Run As Administrator (you must do this or this won't work) and then run: unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMPVersion in that prompt. After that, this will work. -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
