DVD Maker quits

Hello anyone!!!!!!!
I have windows vista home premium (32 bit)........
I'm trying to create a DVD from videos on my hard drive, but the DVD Maker
just quits... error msg is DEP settings... but you can't change the DEP for
DVD Maker or Movie Maker... DVD Maker works for pictures (slide shows) but
not for video...
I'm very frustrated with this problem and I can't make any sense out of the
postings on this community site... I need help in laymens (or children's)
terms...

RE: DVD Maker quits

After hours of encoding a ton of pictures and some videos and this program
freezing a few times, I tried moviemaker: created a wmv file directly.

Then used this one file in DVDmaker and it worked.

(not a solution, Microsoft)

Re: DVD Maker quits

When this happened Vista should have written an error in the event logs. It
is likely that a codec is causing this problem. Sometimes the error will
reference a particular file making it easy to figure out which codec is
causing the problem.

Re: DVD Maker quits

Almost the same problem. DVD Maker lets me add some types of files, click
NEXT and continue working. But when I add any type of VIDEO file, clicking
NEXT causes DVD Maker to "go grey", and give me the message; "A problem
caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program". I
suspect DEP, but, of course, DEP cannot be changed on DVD Maker.

Too much info? Maybe someone can help MS fix their problem.

RE: DVD Maker quits

I found the solution to my DVD Maker problem at:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...=en-us&m=1&p=1
I just ran " regsvr32 /u iac25_32.ax" from a cmd.exe prompt.
No more DVD Maker lockup, but you should read the posting and proceed at
your own risk.

Re: DVD Maker quits

You already got fixed up, but:
How the heck was the Indeo Audio Codec (the file you mention) registered on
your system? That required third party interference. I would love to know
who is doing that so that they could be advise that that's rather a cruel
plan. As you noticed when you were victimized by that badness. =\
