| | WMP 11 Vista album art problems Hope this is the right discussion group... I was asked to pick from an unsorted list of over 1500 groups! Anyway... I had a problem ages ago with WMP11 when I upgraded from v10 under XP (and subsequently rolled back to v10). I now have a new machine with Vista, and the same problem has arisen. I have a combination of downloaded music (Napster, Virgin Media etc) and CD rips. Some - most - album art is OK, but some really weird stuff happens too. For example I just downloaded (via the 'Find album info' option) an album's details, but had to edit them as my exact album release wasn't listed. Suddenly, a load of other albums, nothing to do with the edited one, are displaying the new album art. Mahler symphonies with a pic of a leaping Jamie Cullum - it's just not right! This is typical of the strange goings-on. It looks to me as though WMP11 is just extremely flaky in some areas, but maybe it's me. Whatever... any ideas would be very, very appreciated. |

| | Re: WMP 11 Vista album art problems That sounds like all those tracks were ripped from the same physical mix CD. All tracks ripped from each CD have a basic identification with each other. This comes in handy when you fix the metadata for track one - the rest of the album then fixes itself up. If you Edit the final results in Find Album Info now, you can select "This is a custom mix CD" to avoid that happening, if I recall correctly. -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. | | Re: WMP 11 Vista album art problems Thanks for the reply, but I think the problem lies elsewhere. Affected items are not just tracks, but whole albums, and were ripped from original commercial CDs, digitised off cassette tapes, and downloaded from sites such as Napster. | | Re: WMP 11 Vista album art problems As far as I'm aware, the Find Album Info and other metadata paths don't like to touch bought tracks such as from Napster, under the belief that they should be correct when you bought them. You might be able to use the Advanced Tag Editor there, but the more automated processes such as Find Album Info I would expect to not want to write to those tracks. -- Speaking for myself only. | | Re: WMP 11 Vista album art problems OK, zachd, thanks anyway. Think the answer must lie elsewhere, so I'll just keep persevering - or maybe chuck out WMP 11 and just use the software that came with my MP3 player!
