| | codecs I have taken pictures from my Nikon 8800VR camera and when I try to load them in my moviemaker software it gives me this error message: The file D:\Sylvia's DDS\My Photos\LEACH ST\Families on Leach Street\DSCN0005.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again. I've even tried to install the software for my nikon camera and Vista does not even recognize it...how do i resolve this problem |

| | Re: codecs ..MOV files are QuickTime files. Does your movie maker software support Apple's QuickTime? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your system? | | Re: codecs A MOV file uses Apple's QuickTime. MovieMaker can't edit it in that format. You can find software that will convert, I'd probably suggest Xilsoft or Super. -- Cari (MS-MVP Printing & Imaging) http://www.coribright.com/windows "MzSlyFox" <MzSlyFox@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:CC46563D-E3EF-4F8D-907F-8598E54E70AC@xxxxxx Quote: >I have taken pictures from my Nikon 8800VR camera and when I try to load >them > in my moviemaker software it gives me this error message: > > > The file D:\Sylvia's DDS\My Photos\LEACH ST\Families on Leach > Street\DSCN0005.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play > the > file is not installed on your computer. | | Re: codecs Yeah, upon re-reading your post, I see you are using Windows Movie Maker which does not support QuickTime. Like Cari says, you will have to convert them to a compatible format, or purchase software that can edit QuickTime .mov files. I Bleed Blue and Gold GO BEARS!
