| | Vista Windows Movie Maker - black screen in published videos When I publish a video with WMM in Vista, the resulting file has audio but no video. I've tried publishing to both AVI and WMV, I've tried disabling all video filters, and I've gone through the steps to remove the Indio codec... still no luck. WMM displays the source files and preview video perfectly; it's just the published one that's messed up. After this I'm going to start using third-party software for my videos, but I really would like to be able to publish this one so I don't have to compose it all over again. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. |

| | RE: Vista Windows Movie Maker - black screen in published videos Same problem here too. Imports showing the video in the screen, then Windows closes down the program. Debbie. | Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Vista Windows Movie Maker - black screen in published videos Here is one solution that worked for us: make sure that none of your video clips is using 'mute' in the audio settings, since that causes published video to go black (an obvious bug) -- more about this here: Vista Movie Maker Black Screen Bug — frans goes blog |

| | Re: Vista Windows Movie Maker - black screen in published videos I have many WMM video clips on which I use 'Mute'; never had a problem with black screen after publishing. -- HP Pavilion - 2GB RAM - Core2 Duo CPU Vista Home Premium, SP1 Office 2007 Movie Maker Version 6.0 "franskatti" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:33a2d30765e6963d1242ae1c88a4341d@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | | Re: Vista Windows Movie Maker - black screen in published videos Thanks for the link to Fran's blog... which shows the clip involved is an MPEG2 one from a hard drive camcorder... the system is a Home Premium one which has the new Microsoft MPEG2 codec. The issue is probably one of those codec ones... it's not known if MM6 is using the Microsoft codec or something else when rendering the movie. Changing things in the compatibility list would be needed to explore it. -- website references are to www.papajohn.org PapaJohn (MVP) "franskatti" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:33a2d30765e6963d1242ae1c88a4341d@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | | Re: Vista Windows Movie Maker - black screen in published videos Hi, I also could use some help with publishing my movies. I have vista 64 bit on a dual core with 200 gb. I used frapps in game movie camera which records in AVI (very large files) so if im not going to use some video footage I get rid of it. I made a video for a contest and it looks great in the preview but when I publish it the first half plays perfect and the second part with the exception of a small clip or two that pop in is a black screen but the music still plays and then it plays my credits at the end also. Sadly, I had to turn it in that way in hopesthey will let me fix the problem and readmit it. The video is made up of a lot of small clips from the world of warcraft game. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks. -- skylaria Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| | Re: Vista Windows Movie Maker - black screen in published videos Ok, after I posted this I went to windowsmoviemaker.com and read through the forums and came upon an answer and the solution that they used helped me. It said there is to much going on in the video for the publisher to handle it all and to save the movie ( I saved 3 copies to mess with in case I screwed up) I took the first one and deleted the whole last half beginning at the point where the video had turned black. I removed the music and published that one and then I took another copy and deleted all the first half that I had already published and removed the music and published that one. Next I took both of the published halves and put them in WMM again and added the music and published it again. It worked great and I now have a finished movie that I can see all of. Thanks so much to the poster of the solution, I could not find the post again to give them credit. -- skylaria Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
