| | Windows Vista media player min:sec problem Hi - I FOUND the post button working <g>...! Here is the deal: I have Vista home premium media player 11. I am trying to copy my old audio cassettes to my pc and then burn them to cds. Some are compliation cassettes from lp's or other cassette, some were purchased "albums". I have figured most of it out - <g> but after the files are created into wave files, and i try to burn a cd with multiple files from multiple cassettes (as they are stored on my pc in very large files), there is an error button - a red X - on most of the song files in the list of files to be burned. Media player will not burn or copy any of these files with the red x's on them. The details say something about media player does not know how long the files are and cannot determine if the files will fit on a cd. So they cannot be burned. Where do I get help on this and how do i tell media player how large (usually in min:sec) the files are so i can get on with this project? I just want to take the wave files saved and burn them on to a cd so i can delete them from my pc and play them in my car. Thanks so much! Debbie -- Debbie |

| beta tester: vista all ver. | Re: Windows Vista media player min:sec problem Hi there, what you need is a audio editing program, you can get audacity for free at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ you can then edit your wave files and export then in MP3 format. which is much smaller then wave files, *** REMOVED *** DEAD LINK *** i have used Audacity for quite some time and love the program very much has it allows you to record audio from a input such has IN-LINE or AUX Mic or stereo mix how ever your sound card is setup and being in vista is quite different then previous operating systems. tinker about with your setup if recording.. otherwise please enjoy the free software... and if you can support the good folks in open source programs have a great day EDITED BY: brink |
