mp3 cd won't play in car

When I made mp3 cds with my old xp computer, they would play in my car
stereo. With my new vista computer the mp3 cd I make won't play. I get an
error message that says bad disk. I play them in my computer cd player so
the disk is not bad. I used the mastered format. Can I make a cd with vista
that will work in my car(2005 Navigator)?

Re: mp3 cd won't play in car

I have been having the same problem. In XP you could just drag and drop the MP3s onto the CD, burn, then close out the session and presto, an MP3 CD that plays in anything.

Vista screwed that up to. It plays in most newer computers but not in my car, or my Sony MP3 walkman!

The only way I have been able to burn WORKING mp3 CDs now is in Nero or other 3rd party programs. This should be fixed in Vista! What happened to being able to get a computer right out of the box, and get it to burn a CD for you that works, oh wait thats a MAC ;P Well hopefully there is a windows update in the future for this.

That URL explains how to burn the CD fine, but no it does not work. It says it should work, but every MP3/WMA CD i have burned in Vista, closed out the session does not play in anything except my laptop.

Well..assuming the CD's you used are the same brand and type you used for the XP burn then I say you have a bit of a problem which I will try to replicate when I get a chance this week (getting ready for a road trip).

But make sure the CD is finalaised!

Re: mp3 cd won't play in car

Yes I always finalize the CD. This is a widespread problem that MS needs to fix. I have three friends with Vista computers and they all have MP3 CD players, since upgrading to Vista every MP3 cd they make does not work in anything except their PC.

The only work around I have found was to use 3rd party software. This makes no sense to me because I do no Nero what I do in Windows, drag the files, burn, finalize disc.. works great in Nero.

Re: mp3 cd won't play in car

did anyone find a fix for this? I can say i've identified the problem. i have both OS's at home and if i look at the cd on an XP computer i found out that vista also burned the album art onto the cd, which made it incompatible. it basically has both song files and pictures. does anyone know how to just burn the songs? i currently have to save all my songs to a removable drive and burn it on my other computer which is a pain
