| | Re: WMP11 for AVI & streaming radiod with Vista Ultimate I've had a Laptop with "Ultimate" installed dumped on me by a friend who - like me - doesn't understand HOW to get the complex "Media Centre" to accept files containing {say} AVI's & play them..... Or even to connect to Streaming Audio from : mms://streaming.quicknet.com.au/4BHhttp://stream.arn.com.au/4KQ or even : http://stream.arn.com.au/4KQ These are two stations that *I* can **EASILY** connect to in XP-Pro's version of Windows Media Player - **WHY** can't I find any way for my friend to listen to these radio stations in Vista Ultimate - or even play video files which are NOT on VCD or DVD's ?? I'd be very grateful to learn how the friend can play video from Hard Disk *&* "tune in" to Streaming Audio from Radio Station. |

| | Re: WMP11 for AVI & streaming radiod with Vista Ultimate Actually, you can get that to fail easily in XP too. Turn off Multicast, UDP, and TCP - leaving only HTTP turned on - and then try to play those streams on the XP player, and it'll fail easily there too. This is really easy for the website provider to fix - turn on HTTP Streaming on the *server*. This is easy for them to fix. | | Re: WMP11 and Vista Ultimate x64 well thanks brother from other mother. i did system restore and didn't fix the problem and i ran setup again to update windows and it fixed the problem. probably wmp.dll was currupted. just last question in case this dll is damaged and registry is broken then how to fix this thing can i download that file or extract from setup disk somehow? once again thanks!
