| | Re: WMP11 for AVI & streaming radiod with Vista Ultimate I've had a Laptop with "Ultimate" installed dumped on me by a friend who - like me - doesn't understand HOW to get the complex "Media Centre" to accept files containing {say} AVI's & play them..... Or even to connect to Streaming Audio from : mms://streaming.quicknet.com.au/4BHhttp://stream.arn.com.au/4KQ or even : http://stream.arn.com.au/4KQ These are two stations that *I* can **EASILY** connect to in XP-Pro's version of Windows Media Player - **WHY** can't I find any way for my friend to listen to these radio stations in Vista Ultimate - or even play video files which are NOT on VCD or DVD's ?? I'd be very grateful to learn how the friend can play video from Hard Disk *&* "tune in" to Streaming Audio from Radio Station. |

| | Re: WMP11 for AVI & streaming radiod with Vista Ultimate Actually, you can get that to fail easily in XP too. Turn off Multicast, UDP, and TCP - leaving only HTTP turned on - and then try to play those streams on the XP player, and it'll fail easily there too. This is really easy for the website provider to fix - turn on HTTP Streaming on the *server*. This is easy for them to fix. Send them an email asking them nicely to turn on HTTP streaming in their Windows Media Server settings. =) -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
