Re: Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

You certainly still have msms001.vwp still on your system according to that
data.

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32 , you have a number of msacm. entries. What are
those?

I'm specifically suspicious that you have a "msacm.vox" entry of some sort -
renaming that to "bad.msacm.vox" would stop you from crashing in this
fashion.

I enjoy not being fired and thus I do not speculate about the release dates
of products. =)

Re: Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

Zach,

U are the man! Although doing a search *.vox didn't find any, renaming the registry entry "msacm.voxacm160" to "bad.msacm.voxacm160" did the trick (deleting this i suppose wouldn't hurt as well). The actual value/file "vct3216.acm" also does not exist on my drive. Interesting why the registry entry would crash the app when the offending driver isn't even on the drive.

Thanks very much for your help!

Re: Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

Thre's nothing interesting to go on here. It's probably due to a bad third
party codec. What third party codecs are installed to the system? Did you
use a codec pack? Most of those are pretty nasty. =\

Re: Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

I think the Stamp Suite installed the codec pack. What i meant was these drivers were already deleted from my system and the only remnant was that registry entry- shouldn't the OS just ignore or bypass that registry entry since it doesn't have a valid file to reference it with?

Anyway, it is fixed now and i am able to publish my motorcycle tour! Thanks again.

Re: Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

The fact that it did do something indicates to me that this was still a
viable registry entry. It's possible that you have hide system files or
that sort of thing turned on - DLL files typically are bad to toy with, so
the system may have hidden it from you. So: my conclusion based upon the
data here is that the data was actually valid, as otherwise your later
change would not have affected anything. =\

Excellent, good to hear. =)

Hi, I'm trying to save a movie in movie maker, and I keep getting this
crash. . . I downloaded some new codecs earlier today, could they be
whats causing this?
Also, if I get rid of them, will I still be able to publish my movie?

Re: Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

Which exact codec pack did you install? As you probably already know, it
was broken and did a bad thing.

Did you Check for Solutions using the Problem Reports and Solutions Center
control panel yet?

Re: Movie Maker / DVD Maker keeps crashing

Zach,

i am a french guy and i need help ... i discover your answers about movie maker crashes. I should like to tell you about my own problem. Before i should want to apologize about my english, don't care about it, please. It is also the first time i use a forum, and plus, a foreign one ..
So my problem start when i want to "edit" on video file my WMM project. It crashes, and here is the error message :

Signature du problème :

It seems to be a codec problem : about iac25_32.ax.
could you tell me how i can solve it ? This night i try to find answer on the net, and I have tried to install codecs as K-lite or VistaCodecs_v461, even Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2008-01-24. I have installed and uninstalled too much things i think ... But no solution ... So do i have to delete and reinstall all codecs or only the iac25_32.ax ? If so, is it possible to delete this iac25_32.ax or get a new version ? Or how to delete all codecs or filters and reinstall them (Gspot ? Codec Sniper ? ...) ?

I would be very glad if you could tell about ...
By now, thanks for all
