'Secret' mp3 player in Vista?

In my music folder I have many sub-folders for different artists, genres,
etc. Each folder was created using File, New, Folder. I have customized
these folders to show the columns I like. In one folder, and only one, when
you single click on an mp3 filename a window opens on the right of the
screen that has a stop button, a play button, and a 'full screen' button
located below a graphic. Clicking the play button immediately starts
playing the file WITHOUT starting Media Player. This is a super handy
feature, and I would like to configure other folders the same way. Anyone
know how to do this, and why my one folder decided to do this on its own?

In Explorer: Organize -> Layout -> Preview Pane.
