Windows Media player only runs as administrator

Trawled the forums looking for a solution but just discovered this isn't
    working now !

Media player won't start from the menu, from running the exe, from anywhere
unlewss I run it as an administrator. And my account is an administrator
    account anyway !

Presumably this is down to some permissions thing, how that happened I just
don't know as the only things that have been installed on this pc recently
are Windows updates, and a new version of Windows Live.

I'm running Home Premium 32 Bit. Help ?

I, too, have been searching for answers to this problem. Also running Vista
Home Premium, just Windows Updates, no other installs... I can run WMP
normally from an account I set up for my kids, but I have to do that annoying
"run as admin" thing from my own administrator account. Any experts out
there know why this is going on? Thanks!

Scott, try a registry cleaner. I have, it detected over 1100 issues and
fixed them all, that may not be the answer as I ran some other stuff as well
but a clean registry is a good place to start.
