| | Vista Media Center unwanted folders After installing SP1 Media Center started listing the memory card reader slots as 4 drives in both the Video and Pictures libraries. These were never configured to be monitored in either MC or WMP and they weren't being listed in Media Center before SP1 was installed. Is there any way to remove these entries, and other root folders that sometimes show up, from the folders list in the library? |

| | RE: Vista Media Center unwanted folders I want to jump in on this one too. Same problem, and just to clarify, when adding folders to watch, the "additional" folders and cardreaders are not options to stop watching. Very annoying and it looks very messy having all those folders. If it is a SP1 add-on perhaps it should be complied into one folder - suggest is the "extra stuff we don't want" folder...lol |

| | Re: Vista Media Center unwanted folders It worked for the media drives, but I still have other folders I cannot stop watching. These include folders within my c:\user folder such as vidoes, documents, and other randomly install 3rd party program folders. To reiterate, they are not listed in the stop watch folder. Do you have this problem too? |

| | Re: Vista Media Center unwanted folders Not those particular folders, but some root folders did show up that I got rid of. In XP MCE my webcam threw some folders/shortcuts in there that couldn't be removed and others had scanners do the same, but I'm not seeing that in Vista. See if the following registry edit helps to remove some of the unwanted folders: Look for entries in this registry key like this; [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\AutoScan] "_arSeenVideoDrives"="E:/" and change them to this; [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\AutoScan] "_arSeenVideoDrives"="<<NULL>>" without the quotation marks. Should work for the Music and Image lines as well. | | Re: Vista Media Center unwanted folders I took a look at the registry is it looks like they were already set to "<<NULL>>". So yeah, still no fix ![]() thanks though |
