| | Windows Media Player 11 and Internet Explorer WMP had been working properly until recent installation of WOW music download program. While browsing the web can not play .mpg or .mpeg files, options I get are to save to computer or cancel. I did remove the WOW program, but when I try to play mpegs I now get message saying IE cannot open (standard broken internet connection message). I have checked and made sure WMP was the default program but cannot solve this problem. WOW has been of no help. Wondering if WOW program deleted particular codecs or other WMP files to allow for mpegs to be played while browsing. Any help is appreciated |

| | Re: Windows Media Player 11 and Internet Explorer What third party players were installed to this system? It sounds like one of them broke the file associations here. Does going to the Default Programs control panel and using Set Program Access and Defaults to set WMP as default fix this? -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. | | Re: Windows Media Player 11 and Internet Explorer WOW's player, JR Media (?) I believe was installed and shows as the default player for mpgs. I have gone to control panel, both while WOW's program was installed and even after it was uninstalled to set WMP as the default player, both instances having failed to correct the problem. Even as Wow has been uninstalled (thru their uninstall program) and verifying thru control panel that it has been removed, the problem persists. Restarting after changes have been made do not correct. You mention possible broken file associations. Is there a way to correct this?
