| | Windows Media Center and image files I've had Vista Home Premium installed on my desktop PC for over a year now, but I never used Windows Media Center until recently and noticed this problem when I purchased a Media Center Extender. After choosing the folders (music, video and image) that I wanted in my WMC library (on BOTH my desktop PC AND Media Center Extender), only my image files do not appear in the libraries. Under "Picture Library" (again, on both units), all folders and sub-folders which I selected are shown but contain no "items". The files which I desire to view are .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, and .bmp formats and I have converted some back and forth between formats to see if that changed anything. Can anyone steer me in the right direction on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| | RE: Windows Media Center and image files There is a limitation as to which folders containing images can be viewable on an extender, even though they are in a monitored folder and are viewable in WMP. I have my images on a seperate partition in a "pictures" folder. These are visible in WMP but not on the extender (the folder is monitored by WMP/WMC). When I move the images to the official or system "My Pictures" folder, the images are now viewable. Try moving your images to public/picutres or the pictures folder for your logon account. | | RE: Windows Media Center and image files Why is that true ONLY of images since it is NOT the case with music, playlists, or video files. All of my media is located on a secondary drive and everything else plays fine on both the extender and on WMC on my PC. And why would WMC on my PC be similarly unable to view those same images? Anyway, I'll test it out with the "official" My Pictures folder as you suggest and see what happens. Thanks for taking the time to reply. | | RE: Windows Media Center and image files Ok, I moved several folders of images to the "official" My Pictures folder and the results were no different after being added to the libraries of BOTH the extender and WMC on my PC. In both cases, the main folder as well as all of the subfolders were displayed properly just without any images present. Based on that, I would have to conclude that location of the files is not the problem. Any more ideas? | | Re: Windows Media Center and image files I would try Microsoft directly, but I've had Vista for over a year and am WELL outside of free tech support (and I am certainly not paying to get transferred from one foreign tech support agent to the next for scripted troubleshooting). If you have a new computer, you should be able to get support for free (within 90 days of purchase I think). If you get and answer, please post on here.
