What is the difference bewteen mpg and wmv formats ? MS seems to play
them both OK. Which is the best quality, and which takes least disk space?

They are both compression codecs used to reduce the space video files take up without severely compromising image quality.

There are different mpeg flavours and are used for different purposes.

I would suggest heading over to wikipedia and do some reading.

Way to complex for here.

As to which is the better quality it really depends what you want to use the video for.

WMV files are good for sharing over the net but I wouldn't use this format for editing.

Both can be compressed in many different ways, so it is impossible to give
an answer. Choose the one you like the look of and uses the least amount of
space for you.
