Vista - Movie Maker Playback Issue

I have the problem in Movie Maker where if you add transitions or music to
the project, the timeline will not playback until you remove the effect that
you added (and sometimes you have to remove previously added transitions to
get the playback function to return). I have tried all the tips I googled
including changing user, trimming clips, I installed the Hotfix and I
installed service pack 1. Nothing has corrected the issue. Can anyone help
with a solution? Papa John? Mr Gates? Batman?
