No sound from DVD

I just got a new 37inch LG flatscreen for use as my computer monitor/tv/movie
watching screen. I threw in a DVD last night with intent on watching it on
Vindows Media Center. the DVD plays fine, and i can use the remote that i
bouhgt just fine, but i get no audio at all. My music plays fine, and videos
i play that are on my computer play fine, adn i tried it in Windows Media
Player, and Audio is there, but then i cannot use my remote control, which
makes me a littel of the sadness. I tried the "Set up your speakers" in the
WMC tasks menu, but to no avail. any suggestions.

I am using the on board sound from my nVidia 680i Montherboard with a
Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround sound. any help

RE: No sound from DVD

try going in the properties of each sound device and checking the volumes
levels. If all the volume levels are up then I think your problem might be an
audio codec. K-Lite mega is a good one.

Well...before installing mega codec packs which end up causing more conflicts I would try and sort out the cause.

It sounds more like a hardware set-up issue to me. Though...I cannot suggest any specific process of elimination as I am not familiar with the Logitech X-540.

Considering other music play fine could be a matter of even the sound options through the DVD menu too...
