| | VISTA MEDIA CENTER- CAN I PLAY HD-DVD VIA MEDIA EXTENDER? I have Vista Ultimate. My PC has an LG combo Blu-Ray and HD-DVD drive in it. I have installed PowerDVD 8, and I can play Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs using Power DVD. I wrote and registered an XML file that points Windows Media Center to Power DVD for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray playback; when you tell Media Center to PLAY DVD with a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD disk in the drive, it starts Power DVD which can then play the content, at up to 1080p. Snce my computer's hardware and software is capable of playing Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs, if I got a Media Extender like Linksys DMA 2100, would Media Center stream the Blu-Ray or HD-DVD content to the Extender? It seems like if Windows Media Center is REALLY a "MEDIA CENTER" it ought to be able to play these high-def disk formats! I mean, come on here people! Why would I want a Media Center if I couldn't connect it to my big screen and watch HD-DVDs??? I know if I rip the disks to high-def .WMV files, then Media Center will stream them to the Extender. But that is an awful lot of work! VISTA is supposed to make life EASIER.....! |
