Windows DVD Maker seems to automatically assign the beginning of each
chapter in a slideshow. Is there a way to tell WDVDM which slides are the
beginning of a chapter?

Basically, the answer (from my experience) is no, you can't assign chapters
within DVD Maker. What you can do is to create each chapter as a separate
project in Windows Movie Maker, then Publish each project, then Add Items
each one to DVD Maker. DVD Maker will arrange the items as separate
chapters. Also see: " How are scenes created for my DVD?" at
