| | Re: Vista/Window DVD Maker quits working - used to work fine **knock on wood** I've gotten further now than I have after unchecking the boxes in WMM. I didn't realize that's where I would be able to make any changes for WDM, I've not really used WMM much. Hopefully by doing this and removing the DixV files it solves my problem of burning. I'll report back in a few hours but **knock** it looks promising so far. | | Re: Vista/Window DVD Maker quits working - used to work fine This is really helpful data. What codec pack did you install, if any? Those are really bad. vsfilter.dll is a third party dll that is broken. You might want to remove it. divxa32.acm is also broken. Either remove it or update it. iac25_32.ax should NEVER be registered on Vista, but some broken codec pack probably did that in ignorance/incompetence. You would want to unregister that - run "regsvr32 /u iac25_32.ax" from an elevated cmd.exe prompt to fix that. That's probably tough to understand - the crash bucket response from the Problem Reports and Solutions Center control panel has a better explanation. I'll check on the divxa32.acm responses tomorrow just in case they're not in place. The IAC25 crash definitely has a response in place. -- Speaking for myself only. | | Re: Vista/Window DVD Maker quits working - used to work fine I'd sure like to figure this all out, it's been very frustrating. The codec pack that I had installaed was Vista Coded and I also had a K-lite codec on there. I'm thinking there was one more that I had removed after researching thru these sites looking at others' problems and had read before where you have told others that codecs are really bad. Mine came from a site that uses DivX and requires the DivX webplayer and the k-lite codec to view online so that's where I had these picked up from. I'm going to test it again tonight but after the other suggestion about unchcecking the compatibility buttons in the WMM and that actually allowed the video to burn -- and I was stoked thinking it worked!! but -- after playing the video in my DVD player even though the movie showed different scenes, etc it played the first 20 seconds or so then stuck and recorded the remained of the movie stuck on that screen so it's trash. I'm not sure if that was just a fluke or if I still have some type of problem. I am a bit confused by "run "regsvr32 /u iac25_32.ax" from an elevated cmd.exe prompt to fix that." I go to my command prompt and type regsvr32 /u iac25_32.ax just like that and just hit enter? I had read some stuff on another post about doing something similar and I tried it but I had an error of some kind so I stopped there. It makes me a bit nervous messing with dos stuff when I'm not very familiar with it and am worried that I may make something else worse. I so totally appreciate your help with this. I'm sure like myself, you have another full time job that keeps you busy. If I could bake you some cookies or something afterwards as a thank you...... Have a super-fantastic day/night where ever you are in the world :-) (It's been a long day) "zachd [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > > This is really helpful data. What codec pack did you install, if any?
