Media player won't play netflix online movies

I just installed vista 32 bit last week. I immediately found out that the DRM files won't play netflix movies. I have read even on MS website that this is sometimes a problem and installed their "fixes" but nothing has helped. If I use a Dsub video connection it works but not with DVI.

I am not watching HD movies and so can't see a reason why this is happening. Netflix is aware of the problem but have no solution either. Does anyone know why the lastest MS system can't function properly? thanks

What KB are you referring to on the MS website about this?

Re: Media player won't play netflix online movies

That's a huge bunch of information as opposed to any concrete KB about using
DVI.

If Netflix requires content security (and I would think that they would), I
don't see why they would be allowing you to play DRM files over DVI. This
seems like a very conscious design decision on their part that helps protect
the security of their content.

You could potentially have the same problem with anything that required
HDCP...

Re: Media player won't play netflix online movies

It seems you're missing the point. I have a paid subscription with them to watch their content on "view instantly". I watched it on DVI with XP, but now with Vista I can't. What does DVI have to do with it? HDCP is for hardware so one can watch HD content; I am using the same hardware as before. It isn't netflix protecting me from viewing what I bought, it is MS skrewing around. Do some research. A lot of people have the same problem and even MS tech page admits it and has a fix, but it doesn't work at all. This DRM is a messed up scam if paid subscribers can't view content they paid for.

Re: Media player won't play netflix online movies

Cool - what specific tech page and what specific fix are you referring to?
You linked to a huge page with a whole lot of information, so I don't know
what specific information you are referring to. If you could be specific,
probably it would be more possible for me to be helpful.

If there is some specific fix and it doesn't work, that'd be useful.

Could you be specific in the information about why it won't play, as well as
being specific about what specific fix you are referring to? So far you're
being rather vague which means I'm not clear on what you're trying to
indicate. My apologies.

Re: Media player won't play netflix online movies

You state that you recently installed Vista 32 bit. I’m assuming that you
mean Home Premium. I’m also assuming that you have the latest video/graphic
driver updates.

"It seems you're missing the point. I have a paid subscription with them
to watch their content on "view instantly."
"This DRM is a messed up scam if paid subscribers can't view content they
paid for."

I can assure you that Netflix watch instantly performs on Vista and XP as
expected. I’ve been using Netflix watch instantly during the past 2 years. I
have used it on 4 different Windows personal computers including laptops,
desktop, XP and Vista. Netflix watch instantly works with Vista exactly as
advertised on the Netflix website.
