| Premium 64bit | Video thumbnails not generating automaticly. Hello i just recently signed up for this site and now I need some desperate help. I have searched just about everything that i can think of and none of it is just working out. Here's my dilemma: I've just recently installed a fresh brand new copy of Vista 64-bit Premium (and after many hours of dealing with dynamic discs and backing up and else) and now noticed that my video thumbnails are not generating. The ONLY videos that generate is the wmv files, other than that my avi files are not generating at all. I had used the VirtualDubMod fix but that didn't work because the new videos still didn't generate by themselves. I have these codecs installed: xvid, divx, cccp, and vlc player. But still none works. I have a laptop with the 32bit version of Premium and it does exactly what it is supposed to do, every one of my videos have thumbnails. So could you please help me with this problem, i should be able to respond fairly quickly. |

| Vista ultimate x64 | Re: Video thumbnails not generating automaticly. Hi Well in vista 64 bit , thumbnails will be only generated if the media file has 64 bit codec ![]() installed on vista for example , if you have files such as .m2ts, .avi, .mpg, .mp4 etc , you might download some 64 bit codecs , assuming that it really installs 64 bit filters or codecs on your machine , but the fact is it does'nt , it install 32 bit codecs and enables 32 bit media player 11 to be the default and ; explorer (shell ) does not gets any help from these codecs to generate thumbnails as it is 64 bit , the work around is to open 32 bit windows explorer and explore video folders but make sure you install 32 bit codecs such as Klite codecs . Creat a shortcut on desktop and name it as "windows explorer (32 bit)" 1) Right click on desktop 2) click on >New> Shortcut 3) type in the path without quotes "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\explorer.exe /separate" 4) navigate to videos folder or the drive which contains videos . Good Luck Rishi Raj MS Shell User MS Media Technologist MCTS |
