Vista - windows media player crashes

I think I've messed up things by installing 3rd party codecs and need help to
resolve this.

Every time I try to play a movie on MP11, it crashes. Details from 'Problem
Reports and Solutions' are pasted below.

I do not know where to look to find what codecs are currently installed and
how to go about uninstalling them and managing them. They do not show up in
'Programs & Features' of in my program files. Is there a list of them
somewhere that you can manage them from.

my OS is vista ultimate.
