Vista - Windows Media Player not playing music

I am trying to play some MP3 files and even the included "Sample Music" and
they will not play, it does not freeze or stall it just does not play..

Media Center does play them however.. But I would much rather use Media
Player..

Exact same problem here. I'll add more info. though. On my system after I
attempt to play a song in WMP, I get the same issue, but afterwards all
window sounds refuse to work until log off or reboot. I'm running SoundMAX
integrated audio on an Intel motherboard.

Do you have the latest driver for you sound card, cuz I used to have the
same problem, but after installing a new driver the problem was gone..

I've got the latest drivers i can hear sounds but i can't play music i'm
running on a SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio i spoke to microsoft when i
was running on a beta 2 version about my sound they said i would have to wai
till june the 1st to get my sound working and today after installing RC1 it
works but now all i need to get sorted in my windows media player so i can
listern to music or watch videos my probelm is that the file dosen't even
start to play it gose form one end to the other in less than a second can any
one help me? thank you.
