Movie Maker hangs first try than works fine?

Every time I load up Movie maker, drag in a quick video (just to test), and then hit publish it hangs on me. I get a AppHangXProcB1 error when looking under the problem reports. Here is the full thing...

Funny thing is once it restarts it works fine without any issues. I have uninstalled all codecs and Roxio to make sure none of them were causing a problem. However it still hangs and needs to be closed and restarted every time on the first run. Anyone have any ideas for a fix?

Hi... I don't wish to alarm you but you might want to Google "csrss.exe" as that application seems to be the cause of your problem.

There is discussion about it being a virus/trojan if it's in a certain location...but in many cases it's a legit MS file.

It's very likely you just corrupted the file in some way...possibly by removing all the codecs...please don;t rush out and install one of those K-Light codecpacks as that will cause more problems.

MS comes with standard codecs for a wide variety of video/sound formats. So you shouold always have some codecs in there on your system

Re: Movie Maker hangs first try than works fine?

Well been searching all morning, when I get home I need to do a search on the computer and find out if there are any csrss.exe files in locations other than where they are supposed to be. Those files are viruses and need to be removed.

If my csrss.exe is corruppted can I simply copy if from a working machine over to the affected one? I really don't want to reformat, but looks like that's where I might be going.

Well I just did a reformat and everything works fine off the bat. Now going to start adding my normal programs and see what causes the issue.
