capture You-tube videos , size too big for attachment

Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, SP 1. Windows Live Mail.
I am completely NEW in this particular subject, and I hope I can explain my
problem intelligently enough.
I am using Debut Video Capture Software, by NCH Software, to capture You
Tube videos. That is not the problem.
My problem is sending them out as attachments.
Output formats available are : avi, asf, wmv, mpg, 3gp, mp4 or mov.
So far, and I have not tried all formats , mp4 is the one with the smallest
size, small enough to e-mail as attachment. But it has to be played in
RealPlayer. My recipients have Windows Media Player, and wmv format is too
big in size, about almost 10 times larger than mp4.
Am I stuck in this project ?

Decrease the bitrate of the clips in question. That's not a constant. =)

Re: capture You-tube videos , size too big for attachment

Thank you for your suggestion.
As mentioned I am new in the. Question : decrease bitrate to what ? What is
the over-riding guide line ?
My hope is the size will not exceed 7 - 8 MB. Thank you.

Your video clips are at a certain quality level. If your tool doesn't allow
you to decrease that and thus decrease the size, use Windows Movie Maker to
decrease the size.

Look up "compress movie". =)

Thank you. I did not know Windows Movie Maker could do the trick........
well, at least to the bare minimum in size.
