Media Player stops working

Hi.
My Media Player stoppped working and I didn't find a solution so far.
When I try to open any file, video, music, from the Internet or locally I
receive the message that it stopped working.
The details are as follows:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: wmplayer.exe
Application Version: 11.0.6001.7000
Application Timestamp: 47919356
Fault Module Name: wmp.dll
Fault Module Version: 11.0.6001.7000
Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a80c
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00090c7a
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 2070
Additional Information 1: fd00

I'm using Vista Ultimate 64 with all the updates.

What changed before this started happening? Did you ever install the broken
software "Satellite TV for PC" on this system?

Thanks for the reply.
As far as I recall I didn't install that software. I checked in Control
Panel and it is not listed, nor in Program Files.
I have KLite codec pack installed, but it was just to try and solve the
MPlayer problem.

It seems there is some problem with wmp.dll, is it possible to reinstall it?
Do you know where to download the file for Vista? I've met one, but it was
old and much smaller than the one in my computer, so I didn't install it.

What versions of wmp.dll are found where on your system?

You should already have one backup copy that can be restore by running:
sfc /scannow
from "cmd.exe" run As Administrator.
