Re: How do I get AERO GLASS

Running Vista RC1 and the option to select Aero doesn't appear immediately
either. In the Window Color and Appearance window click "Open classic
Appearance properties for more color options". The old style Appearance
Window will open with a selection box and Windows Aero should be at the top
of the list. Other options in that list include Vista Basic, Windows
Standard, High Contrast, etc., etc..

Re: How do I get AERO GLASS

AERO does not appear on this list, just VISTA.
AERO features did work on an earlier build but it crashed a lot.
Any advice welcome.

Re: How do I get AERO GLASS

Sorry, when you said the list only displayed VISTA I interpreted that as
being from the Theme Options, which in my RC1 only offers a choice of
Windows Vista or Classic.

My computer performance specs are similar to yours, except that the desktop
and gaming graphics are about 1 point higher, with a lot more video RAM.
With 64Mb your video adapter meets minimum specs for Aero if your screen
resolution is set to 1280x1024 or lower @ 32bit colour. You should also have
Transparency turned on.

The specs for your computer at HP states that the graphics memory is
integrated (with system RAM) and can be allocated up to 256Megs. You could
check in your BIOS (or extended BIOS, usually accessed with F11) to see if
you can change the amount of RAM allocated to video from 64meg to 128meg, or
even 256meg since you have lots of RAM onboard. I presume you aren't
interested in dropping in a new higher powered video card.

Re: How do I get AERO GLASS

For whatever reason I now have GLASS, the taskbar mini-images and the VISTA
version of colors and appearance. Not desktop spread.

The BIOS did not let me allocate more am to graphics.

Thanks to everyone, Irv
