| MS Windows Vista Home Premium x64 SP2, MS Windows 7 Ultimate RC | MP3 files downloaded as MP2 hi there, when i try to download mp3 files from some websites (e.g. beemp3.com), the file is download as mp2 video file but plays as audio file in WMP.. and when i try to change file extension to .mp3, it doesn't work on WMP but plays on VLC, for example.. this issue has been going on for about a month now, however it never happened before with me, not on this version nor any other version of MS Windows in general, and it's really annoying me!! any advice here? btw, i tried scanning my computer for viruses (usin Avast Antivirus Free Edition, updated) and resetting IE settings to default, nothing worked.. thanks in advance, Mostafa |

| | Re: MP3 files downloaded as MP2 Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type look for ".mp2" as the Extension for one of the audio/ MP3 MIME types. Change it back .mp3 . This should have been done by some third party player you installed as far as I'm aware. This asumes that BeeMp3 didn't change their backing file format. If so, it might work as extension ".mpg" with WMP. -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. | MS Windows Vista Home Premium x64 SP2, MS Windows 7 Ultimate RC | Re: MP3 files downloaded as MP2 hey there, worked fine, but it wasn't under MP3 audio type, it was under .mpg maybe that's because the file was downloaded as ".mpg" played in WMP.. anyway, thanks a lot., Regards, Mostafa |
