5.1 sound not working

i don't know if this was mentioned earlier but i'm not able to get my 5.1
sound working... whatever i do i just have 2 speakers (and subwoofer)
working.

i have Realtek AC'97 Audio integrated on my motherboard and it all worked
well on winXP.

i downloaded and installed official vista beta drivers from realtek site but
still nothing.

any ideas?

cheers

RE: 5.1 sound not working

Hm it works for me. Using AC'97 Vista beta drivers (x64 version).

I assume you are using 3-mini plugs to connect to your speakers?

Make sure you are using the "speakers" option as windows default. NOT SPDIF.

Then configure it using the windows control panel. Choose 5.1 sound and
test all speakers.

Re: 5.1 sound not working

I have the same problem with My Sound Blaster Audigy in windows media
player, but it works just fine using Nero 7
My configuration speaker test works Ok also.
I think it's a media player problem.

Re: 5.1 sound not working

I had exactly the same reported problem when using AC'97 SPDIF output to a
discrete 5.1 Decoder

Problem resolved when I downloaded Realtek Digital Output Driver

You could try using Windows Update and check for new Updates

Regards...

Re: 5.1 sound not working

ok i fixed it for me make sure you have speaker fill checked in the realtek
hd manager. that solved the problem of not getting 5.1 sound in windows media
player.
