| | Playing backed up DVDs with Media Center I upgraded to Vista Premium from XP Pro and this is my first experience with Media Center. I have a number of my DVD movies backed up to my hard drive and have always played them through Media Player. I can still do that, however, I would like to be able to play them through Media Center. Here is my problem. MC has found all of my movies, and shows me them all in folders in the video library. When I open a folder I see the audio_ts and video_ts subfolders. When I go into the video_ts folder, however, it tells me "No videos were found. Either there are no videos or you are viewing an empty folder." But I'm not - the files are there. I have used a couple of different programs to back up my movies, most recently DVD Shrink. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks |

| | Re: Playing backed up DVDs with Media Center Stuart, this is also happening to my backed up DVD's. Looking at your fix, I read it as set the value of 'ShowGallery' to 'Gallery', rather than 'Play'. If I have read this right, I have tried this fix and I now get the picture but it still doesn't play, I just get the video and audio ts folders? Do you have any other suggestions? I appreciate your help Thanks Simon "Stuart" wrote: > Try the following registry tweak: > > Registry key - > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media > Center\Settings\DvdSettings > Registry value - ShowGallery > Registry value data type - REG_SZ > Registry value data - Gallery = enable My DVDs; Play = do not enable My DVDs > > Good luck > > "s6xbucks" <s6xbucks@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:263BCE23-4193-46F0-819B-B93BDD852F89@microsoft.com... > >I upgraded to Vista Premium from XP Pro and this is my first experience > >with > > Media Center. | | Re: Playing backed up DVDs with Media Center After making the registry change you should be able to access and play your DVDs through the DVD Library menu which will have appeared on the TV+Movies nav strip. You do not play them through the Pictures+Video menus. Indeed it is useful to keep all your DVD rips under one parent folder such as DVDs and set it as a hidden folder, then it will not appear as a bunch of folders under Videos but can still be accessed through the DVD Library tile.
