| | Remembering Folder View Settings From reading around and from my own experience, there seems to be a lot of problems with Vista Explorer remembering folder view settings (details, icons, etc). Whats the current state of play with this problem? Is there a solution to it, or a bug fix? Its very annoying to have to change the settings every now and again when I enter a folder - e.g. having to change to large icon view for pictures, and details for MP3s. |

| | Re: Remembering Folder View Settings Make your changes, go to tools, folder options, view, then hit "apply to folders". This will work for you! | | Re: Remembering Folder View Settings Thanks, but I tried this already, and it doesn't work ! The folders will still change, seemingly randomly ! | | Re: Remembering Folder View Settings Ok, this is the only fix I know. I call it "taking out the bags". It will reset all your folders to their default views and you might have to do it again a time or two, a couple of days latter before things settle down. ______________________________________________________ Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU] [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags] _______________________________________________________ Hope this helps. | | Re: Remembering Folder View Settings THanks Reyede, but 2 issues : 1. i have so many folders, i don't have the time to reset the views and go through them ALL again setting the desired view settings. 2. if I did go ahead and do this, would it be GUARANTEED ? because if it wasn't, it would be a waste of time ! | | Re: Remembering Folder View Settings Sorry, I've been out of town, in a motel with a crappy dial-up. If you look at these two reg keys you see there is lots if informatition, but it seems to me that sometimes the folders get "crossed linked". I would open Control Panel, find it changed and change it back and then Documents would be messed up, change it back and then Music is hosed. If this is the problem you face then you can fight it tell the crow flies or try this. There are only a couple of guarantees and I can't remember any at this time.
