Vista Windows Media Center Error

After I upgraded to Vista Home Premium, it's working great! However, when I
try to play a downloaded song in
Windows Media Center, I get an error "unknown audio error" with a a number
8010100 and WMC goes black. If I wait for 3-5 minutes, there is a lot of
disk activity and then the song starts to play!!! After that, all songs play
OK. I tried downloading the codecs, no help. I turned off the folder
watches, except for my MUSIC folder, no help. What else can WMC be trying to
do on start-up that gives this error. the knowledge base has no answer. Am
I the only one who has this problem? (NOTE: This problem does not occur
with media player, but I'm trying to learn WMC and would like to use it
instead, if possible.)
Thanks.

RE: Vista Windows Media Center Error

Lyndon , i found the answer , if you have sonic cineplayer software on ur
computer or anything that is sonic software you need to reinstall the
software . i had taken mine off that when the problem started, i reinstall it
and now my audio is working.
You need the dvd decoder that come with the software. but u best bet is to
reinstall the software. you could of delete if from you computer some how.
Good Luck
Sandra

RE: Vista Windows Media Center Error

Lyndon,
I get the same exact error, with those same results. If Media Center stays
open , it will play fine after the initial stall of 3-5 minutes on the first
song. I cannot get visualizations to work either. I have tried everythingI
can think of. I tried sandra-44's trick without success. What computer set up
are you running?
I will keep checking back here for a solution!!

RE: Vista Windows Media Center Error

I upgraded to vista and when I try to play a song in MC, it says an unknown
audio error has occured and then locks up MC so that I have to manually shut
it down. How can I fix this?

Re: Vista Windows Media Center Error

Do you get any more details?
Does playback work in Windows Media Player?

RE: Vista Windows Media Center Error

this is the error I am getting once I download songs to the player. I too
have vista. One day it worked and now it just says this. ---Windows Media
Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item
that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved,
renamed, or deleted.----if anyone can send the answer to me I would love it!
