Vista Tutorial - Video files thumbnails

Vista does not display a capture from the Video file as a thumbnail, instead
it shows the default WMP thumbnail.

Already removed and reinstalled codec packs, and reset the Visual effect
under Performance.

Any suggestions?

I'm using Vista Ultimate. Can't remember if I installed or removed a certain
software before this happened, but it used to work fine.
This only happens with Video files.

This is a codec issue for sure, try uninstalling all codecs and just get
ffdshow. Its probly the best out and its fast too. Solved this issue for me.

Come to think about it....
I think you're right!
I'll check this as soon as I'm home today.

You can't uninstall the damage Nero did. It messed this up and thumbnails in
Media Center. Here is fix:

I was having trouble showing thumbnails of videos (kept getting a rundll32
error). I discovered that the problem was the lmpgspl.ax file in the
windows/system32 folder. I simply renamed the file 1lmpgspl.ax and the
problem went away. Video thumbnails now show without an error message.

I don't have that file on my machine. I didn't have this problem after a
clean install and the latest version of Nero, like I did before.

OK thanks. I'll give it a try.
BTW, i've noticed that the thumbnails problem doesn't happen only with
videos, but with Documents and other files that had preview thumbnails
before. The only file type that was not damaged are images.

Thanks. This worked perfectly! I personally suspect Roxio Easy Media Creator
9 (which should be compatible with Vista)

So....how do I apply that huge long Registry entry to my...registry? Ive
never used RegEdit before and I REALLY dont want to mess something up. Is
there an easier way? WITHOUT doing a clean install?
