| | Can't "Remove" Picture Folder from showing up in Windows Photo Gal Can't "Remove" Picture Folder from showing up in Windows Photo Gallery Hi, I keep all of my photos, screenshots, and clip art in the "Pictures' folder on my PC which is where Windows Photo Gallery (WPG) points to for its gallery management. I would like to EXCLUDE certain folders from showing up in WPG. I did a search and found the link below; http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...a2ef41033.mspx ....which says to simply "right-click" on the folder from within WPG and select "Remove from Gallery". That WOULD be awesome, but when I right-click as the instructions say, an option does not come up for me to "Remove from Gallery". Only RENAME and DELETE are remotely related, and each of those choices affect the actual folder on the C Drive and not just the WPG overlay. Any suggestions as to what I might be able to do? I have considered just keeping photos I don't want to show up in WPG in another folder besides "Pictures", but I'd rather not take that step until I've exhausted the WPG option. Thanks G |

| | Re: Can't "Remove" Picture Folder from showing up in Windows Photo Gal Hi, thanks for posting your question. You're right in that you can't remove certain folders from Windows Photo Gallery. Specifically, the help topic for Photo Gallery says this: You can remove folders that you have added to Photo Gallery at any time, but you can't remove the folders that are in Photo Gallery by default. In addition, you can't remove a subfolder without removing its top-level folder as well. So in your case, since Pictures is in the Gallery by default, it can't be removed. In addition, you can't remove a subfolder of Pictures. To read the entire help topic, go here: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...a2ef41033.mspx The only solutiuon to your problem that I can think of is that you could keep photos you want to exclude from appearing the Photo Gallery in a folder that lives outside of Pictures. I hope this information helps. -- Dave Johnson Windows User Assistance team Microsoft Corporation |
