Windows Media Player Has Stopped Working... + explorer.exe

Hello, I am currently using Windows Vista Ultimate for about 2 Weeks now...
Just today I start up my computer, go to my account an logon to it... When I
get on it, I get a black screen and a Documents window... I go ahead and
close the window and I still have a dark screen.. So I start up task manger
and start up explorer.exe manually.... I have rebooted, restored and tried a
million other things and I still have to boot up explorer.exe manually... Its
getting really annoying.. When I manually boot up explorer, I decided to
listen to some music with WMP.... I start it up and I get Windows Media
Player Has Stopped Working...... The only two things in my system that arn't
working.... Really unbelieveable..

Re: Windows Media Player Has Stopped Working... + explorer.exe

Hi Kyle, I too have had the same problem in the Vista 32bit arena.
After tirelessly trudging through forums for the last month with no
solution as of yet, I have resorted to using VLC as my main
'MediaPlayer' until Microsoft provide a fix for this issue. A nice
player which handles most media file formats with ease, but without the
'glitz' of the Micro$oft WMP.
Not the ideal solution after spending $450 on a new OS, but will fill
the patch until MS do. VLC Download - http://www.videolan.org/
Regards

Birty

Could you clarify exactly what data you're getting in the Problem Reports
and Solutions center?

I'm particular interested in the crash bucket number:

Speaking for myself only.
See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
