| | Problems with Playback on Windows Movie Maker for Vista Whenever I am importing or editing footage with Windows Movie Maker on Windows Vista Ultimate, I eventually can't even playback what I have edited. I keep pressing the play button but it does nothing and I can't even play what I have been working on. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is there a fix for Playback issues? Please can you help me? |

| | RE: Problems with Playback on Windows Movie Maker for Vista Sorry if I'm stating the obvious here, but just in case... In order to playback video you have to highlight or 'click' on something, either the imported video at the top, or on the timeline on the bottom to play back what you've edited. If you click the mouse anywhere else on the screen you'll lose focus on the timeline, that is the Movie Maker's attention has shifted to something else and the playback will be greyed out. | | RE: Problems with Playback on Windows Movie Maker for Vista I am having the same problem. Even after getting Movie Maker to focus on the timeline the video does not play. After adding several transitions, I was not able to regain focus. I went back a few transistions until I regained focus. Then I closed the project without saving it. I opened it again and it was in the same state that I left it and I was able to add new transistions. I saved the project and reopened it. I am now not able to play the timeline at all. Individual clips play and I am able to publish the time line. Any suggestions? -- PEllis "Steve N" wrote: > Sorry if I'm stating the obvious here, but just in case... > In order to playback video you have to highlight or 'click' on something, > either the imported video at the top, or on the timeline on the bottom to > play back what you've edited. | | RE: Problems with Playback on Windows Movie Maker for Vista Hello, I'm having the same problem in localized Dutch Vista Ultimate. Timeline items won't play even if I shift the focus to it.. My computer, Asus P5B-VM, Intel T6400, 2GB DDR800, Intel X3000, WD Sata2 250GB. All of the available latest drivers/firmware updates installed, so what's the problem? I never had probems with WMM under XP prof. SP2... greetinx, Victor "Percy Ellis" wrote: > I am having the same problem. | | Re: Problems with Playback on Windows Movie Maker for Vista Does restarting Moviemaker fix this? What footage type / file types are you playing with? If you use Task Manager's Processes tab and turn on the "Mem Usage", "VM Size", "Handles", "GDI Objects", and "Threads" columns, are any of those numbers abnormally high compared to the other applications running? Is your system Aero-enabled? Most commonly I've seen Movie Maker's performance degrade when the video card driver starts glitching, but if you're having problems over time that seems like something is leaking memory. Movie Maker went through pretty extensive stress testing, so I wouldn't really suspect that - but if you are seeing abnormal memory usage, I'd be really curious as to what third party plug-ins/filters are being involved here. -- Speaking for myself only. | | RE: Problems with Playback on Windows Movie Maker for Vista I'm having the same kind of problems, mostly when I start to add transitions, then the only way to play the video that I'm editing is by undoing the modification that I start to do. It could be an error with the video card right now I’m using Intel X3000 and I have Windows Vista Home Premium. If anybody has found a solution, please reply "aosorio7211" wrote: > I am having the same problem.
