Thanks for posting your question. There are many ways to do this. Here are
some of the easiest:
1. If you store your files in their "named" folders, such as photos in the
Pictures folder, music in the Music folder, etc, then just open the
appropriate folder and search using the search box in the upper right of the
folder for whatever criteria you need.
2. If you mix file types in your folder, try this: click Start, then click
Search. Type some search phrase in the search box in the upper right of the
folder and then filter the results by the kind of file you're looking for.
There's a toolbar in the search folder filled with "quick filter" buttons
that let you seejust pictures, music, email, and so on.
3. Finally, you can search by kind. In the search box of a folder, type
something like kind:music or kind

ictures. Or type type: JPG to see just
files with a particualr file extension.
