how to search music/pictures/videos in vista???

it used to be easy in xp. it would allow me to search for a particular file
type without actually typing a name.

i want to be able to search for all pictures (of all supported types) in a
particular folder. when i click search i get options to search for pictures
but i have to enter some keywords.

    can anyone help please?

Open 'Help & Support' & type:

    Tips for finding files

in the Search bar. An article by the same name should be your first result.

Type it in the Search box in the upper-right-hand corner of an Explorer
window or in the 'Start Search' box on the Start menu.

Sounds like you typed it in the 'Run...' dialog...

Re: how to search music/pictures/videos in vista???

Thanks for posting your question. There are many ways to do this. Here are
    some of the easiest:

    1. If you store your files in their "named" folders, such as photos in the
Pictures folder, music in the Music folder, etc, then just open the
appropriate folder and search using the search box in the upper right of the
folder for whatever criteria you need.

    2. If you mix file types in your folder, try this: click Start, then click
Search. Type some search phrase in the search box in the upper right of the
folder and then filter the results by the kind of file you're looking for.
There's a toolbar in the search folder filled with "quick filter" buttons
that let you seejust pictures, music, email, and so on.

    3. Finally, you can search by kind. In the search box of a folder, type
something like kind:music or kindictures. Or type type: JPG to see just
files with a particualr file extension.

You can search all about search in Vista by reading these two help topics:

    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...91dfe1033.mspx

    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...02ec61033.mspx

    I hope this helps.
