| | Windows Movie Maker 6 encoding/publishing question In WMM 2.1 (from XP), there are tons of options to use when encoding video; and often when I want to save space, or am just doing a simple video to put online, I will encode in the small 512kb/s (320x240 or 428x240). if I need decent quality, I’ve never needed more than the 1mb/s or 2mb/s settings. However, it seems that versatility is now lost in WMM 6; especially when it comes to widescreen formats, where the smallest setting is 3mb/s. Working on a laptop, my hard drive space is limited, and I would like to be able to save my videos in smaller formats. Will this option be available ever? As of now, I just save the files on my laptop, transfer them to an XP desktop (with WMM 2.1), re-save them in the smaller format, then transfer them back and delete the large one. Its quite a pain... |

| | Re: Windows Movie Maker 6 encoding/publishing question you can make and use custom profiles.... see my website's Save Movies > Custom WMV Profiles page. if you already have custom profiles in XP for MM2, they'll work in Vista also. -- website references are to www.papajohn.org PapaJohn "matt" <cfusionpm@gmail.com> wrote in message news:B4D22FC0-FEE0-4F62-9308-9A0A537F0FDC@microsoft.com... > In WMM 2.1 (from XP), there are tons of options to use when encoding > video; > and often when I want to save space, or am just doing a simple video to > put > online, I will encode in the small 512kb/s (320x240 or 428x240). if I > need > decent quality, I've never needed more than the 1mb/s or 2mb/s settings. > However, it seems that versatility is now lost in WMM 6; especially when > it > comes to widescreen formats, where the smallest setting is 3mb/s.
