DVD Maker Crashing..Win vista Patch. Cyberlink Power DVD version 7

I have seen on this discussion group somewhere that installing a winvista
patch 2211a and a cyberlink power dvd version 7 will help with the DVD Maker
crashing problems that seem to be VERY common. Where can I find this patch
and does it cost $$$ ?

I can import my movies into movie maker, then place them in the story board
with transitions/credits with no problems. I try to view the storyboard but,
it will not run and then when I try to publish to DVD maker it crashes with
the error message of Regsvr32.exe Error Messages.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. I have been online and on the phone
with HP and Microsoft tech support and they are unable to assist me without
me "paying" for support. This is a new system that I purchased less than a
month ago. I have NEVER had so many issues in such a short anount of time
with any previous PC that I have owned.

Personally I'd save my time in trying to sort it and use my consumer rights
in getting the shop which sold it to me to sort it out. The pc should be
fit for purpose and if it's supposed to make dvds then it should. Let them
pay for tech support if they need it.

In DVD Maker, try setting the burn speed to 1x and see if that helps.

What are the details surrounding the text from the Problem Reports and
Solutions center? What's the crash bucket number? This--
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
should help you look that up.

Re: DVD Maker Crashing..Win vista Patch. Cyberlink Power DVD version 7

Most of what I've seen so far is due to bad 3rd party codecs being installed
to the system after the install was already up and running correctly, so
that might not be the optimum way to go. The details of the crash itself
might be most illuminative.

Since a lot of AVI and 3rd party party MPEG/MPEG2 codecs have issues, one
quick solution here is usually to convert the content to WMV in Movie Maker
and *then* burn that WMV using DVD Maker. Movie Maker's been burned badly
enough by 3rd party codec issues that I'm pretty certain they have "Off"
switches - I don't know if DVD Maker expects to be undermined in that way,
so I don't know if they too have a "Disable third party codecs" switch that
can be needed/useful in cases like this. =\

Whoops: I noticed her earlier post. It is indeed a crash in the 3rd party
Ligos MPEG codec, which theoretically means that this was indeed working
right until later software installed to the system broke it.

So how do you turn off this malware known as codecs in MP 11.

That's the Ligos MPEG D-10 component. If you check with Ligos support, do
they have a fix/update available for you?
