| | Removing Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 Hi, I am using Microsoft Windows Vista for a while and I am very confident with it. One of the disadvantages of Microsoft Windows Vista is, that it is not as fast as Microsoft Windows XP is on my computer. So I began to disable services and started switching to alternative software. After having done these optimizations and having changed the style to "Classic", Windows got noticeable faster. Instead of using Microsoft Windows Media Player 11, I use the "Lite" version of Winamp, which is very fast and freeware (without WGA checks). For playing movies I use the VLC player. I was not able to find a tutorial for disabling or uninstalling the Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 on the Internet. I could not find in an entry under "Programs and Features" -> "Turn Windows features on or off". I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance for your answers! Best regards, Tim |

| | Re: Removing Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 Windows Media Player 11 for Windows Vista cannot be uninstalled. However, you can change your file associations so that Winamp (instead of Windows Media Player) opens your media files when you double-click them. For information about file associations and Windows Media Player, see http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...91033.mspx#EQF. -- John Shaw Windows User Assistance team Microsoft Corporation "Tim" <timn1991@gmail.com> wrote in message news:u7RVLfyiHHA.4552@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Hi, > > I am using Microsoft Windows Vista for a while and I am very confident > with it.
