| | BUG: WMP11 Network Sharing Service breaks automatic sleep Here's a bug with the WMP Network Sharing Service: If you have it turned on and switched sharing of your library files on also, your system will not go to sleep using the built in power timer. If you do it manually, all is well. Problem dissapears by switching the network sharing service off. Don't know how to get this to microsoft; I called them, and then they said they would send me a link, and all they gave me was links to bug report sites for beta products, but this is a published product. So I couldnt post my bugs there. Seems Microsoft employees themselves dont even know where to submit bugs. Hell, I'm even curious how they do get any bugs fixed at all if you cant report them. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. | | Re: WMP11 Network Sharing Service breaks automatic sleep Ok, thats cool, but then that still should be turned on by default. If I was using a laptop and somehow this feature was turned on (it will try to do this when finding another vista computer on the network) my battery will drain quite fast. Luckily I don't use a laptop ![]() "Michael Price" wrote: > There is a setting in the advanced power options that will allow the machine > to sleep when sharing media. > > > > "Johnny" <Johnny@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:55391EBB-8211-4DBE-B192-174C973021F0@microsoft.com... > > Here's a bug with the WMP Network Sharing Service: If you have it turned > > on > > and switched sharing of your library files on also, your system will not > > go > > to sleep using the built in power timer.
