If you reboot, does the toolbar work?
I know that's a little strange to ask - in theory, you've already rebooted
this machine? - but if you haven't, that may be the source of this - the
deskband previously would have been trying to access the version 10 wmp.dll
that was installed to your system, and so that should be loaded into the
shell process and would fail the toolbar.
That's just speculation, mind you, since I don't have system access.
Failing that--
The fact that that fixed you up is troubling. You did not install
SatelliteTVforPC or that sort of application, right? I am assuming based
upon the information provided here so far that an invalid wmp.dll was hacked
onto the system - that combined with a reboot fixing this would make
cohesive sense. However, I'm only aware that STV is doing this - if anybody
*else* is doing this awfulness, I would be extremely interested in knowing
that source.
