Kodak Easy Share changes to Basic Vista color?

Kodak Easy Share changes to Basic Vista color?

Is it normal to have Vista Home Premium switch to Vista Basic when Kodak
Easy Share is running? Also, how can I remove Easy Share from the Start-Up?
I tried deleting it from Start-up list but it wants to delete the entire
program and I only want to stop it from loading at Start-Up.

Kodak Easy Share v.6.2.2 ( and v. 6.2) does not switch from Aero to basic here
with Vista Ultimate. I do not think that deleting the shortcut will delete the
entire program. The delete confirmation box merely lists the location of the
    executable.

I guess the switch from Aero to Basic is only with Home Premium then. That's
why I want to stop it from the Start Up. So...if I delete Kodak Easy Care
from the Start Up list on the Programs Menu, this will stop KEC from
starting up? My Hibernation does not work so I have to Shut Down each night
and Boot Up in the morning. Thanks.

Another question - Okay, now KEC does not start at Start up but Quick Time
does. Quick Time was loaded with KEC - do I need Quick Time for KEC?
Otherwise, I would like to uninstall it.

    Ummmmmmmmmmm,

I don't seem to have any connection between Kodak Easy Share and QuickTime
running at start up. (Other than a reference in my Kodak camera manual that
QuickTime IS necessary to view movies taken with the camera.) I installed the
QuickTime Player before I installed KES, and there is nothing in my Startup
group for QuickTime -- although something pertaining to QuickTime does load at
start up through one of the Run entries in the registry. You can move it from
the Startup group, run KES, and see if you have any problems.

If Quick Time is necessary to view movies then I guess that's why it
installed with KES. I'll just unclick it. At least now my color doesn't

Re: Kodak Easy Share changes to Basic Vista color?

If running QuickTime is what makes you loose Aero, you might want to upgrade to
the latest version of QuickTime (7.1.6) that does not interfere with Aero (at
    least not here).

You can get it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
or you can use your present version of QuickTime and under the Help menu item,
there is an option to check for updates.

I, personally, have no need for iTunes, so I choose only to upgrade QuickTime

That's what I did this afternoon (w/o iTunes, thank you!) and now the
QuickTime works fine too. I thought when KES updated the QuickTime would too
but it didn't. So, on the chance that it didn't I clicked QuickTime and it
told me to update. Now everything seems to be working well.

Re: Kodak Easy Share changes to Basic Vista color?

    Great news!

P.S. I don't think that having Ultimate and Home Premium would have any
difference in the ability to run Aero.

And, from your post to another group, you say you cannot back up to your
"restore drive". Is this a factory restore partition (< 10GB, or so)?
If it is, then this is a partition set up by the factory for you to restore your
system to the default factory setup and definitely would not have enough free
space available for backing up files. How much free space do you have of this
drive? Is it a separate HDD or a partition on your HDD that contains your C:
drive? Although, I can give you no advice on why you cannot backup to a CD-R. I
can't remember if you gave the EXACT error message, but that is most important
for others to help solve your problem.

    Good luck.

Re: Kodak Easy Share changes to Basic Vista color?

First I tried to Create a Recovery Disk. I tried to copy with DVDs to no
avail and then I tried CD-Rs and that didn't work. So I ordered Recovery
Disks from HP. Then I tried to Back Up my files with Vista. First I tried
using Recovery (D) which says it has 7 MB free. When I try to use this back
up I get an error message (0x81000005) That there is not enough free space.
Then it says Recovery D - total size 6.8 GB with 6.8 GB used space. So why
won't it back up successfully? When I try to use Drive E and a CD-R it says
it will format it and then after waiting it says format was unsuccessful.

    Any suggestions?
